In 1958 S&W started using model numbers. Guns like your 38 M&P became known as the model 10. They are the most commonly produced S&W revolver. Over the years I’ve made no secret of my opinion there’s nothing really special about the .44 Special. It’s a fine old low-velocity, big-bore handgun round no better and no worse than several others.
