I think the Gen 5 in the Summit and Freeride is where there has been significant improvements. I have seen a lot of good reviews of the Gen 5 in the Deep Snow. I changed the chain case every 1200 miles lubed and adjusted the track every other ride and adjusted the belt when needed. Never even changed the plugs.

Hello, I picked up a 1997 GT 500 for my folks to ride. it is in good shape for its age, starts easily, track is good and everything works well. I put new needle valves in carbs, reset to factory specs (they were all messed up), put in new battery, cleaned up clutch surfaces, put on new belt, set ... 850 blew up. So my 2022 assault 850 with 1255km blew up the other day. No reasons at all was going on a nice straight and just shut down. I guess the top and the bottom end are gone. What would cause it. Dealer is saying codes show over heating but it was running 100 to 110. Sled had never been over heated ever. The stock 900 primary spring in 2016 was the Yellow / Red (p/n 417223751). That is a 100 / 155 spring. The 1200 primary spring was Yellow / Orange, which is rated 110 / 190 and they used the same ramps.

If the primary clutch is kept from getting too hot the grease lasts the 600 hours no problem. When the motor gets too hot the life span goes down.
