In my 7mm-08, it's awesome! Never found a better combination than 7-08, 140 grain bullet and Varget (42.5 grains=2850 fps). My 7-08 Mountain Rifle shoots 140 ABs at 2730 with 43 grains of Varget. Even with the skinny barrel, it'll shoot 3 into about .75" if I let the barrel cool between shots.I had a great 7mm-08 load with the 160 AB, using IMR 4350. Was getting 2525fps, or something like that. It was a wicked accurate load, but I think I looked at numbers and decided that the 140 actually makes more sense. They didn't make it back then, but the 150 would likely be an excellent bullet as well. You could go heavier to a 160, but they’re really best used with the bigger 7mm remington magnum as the bullets get long enough that they start cutting into your powder capacity inside the case. Feb 11, 2020 · Rem 700 7mm-08. I own and load for my Rem700 7mm-08. I prefer 42 gr H4895 with 140 gr Nosler Accubonds and/or Partition and gotten devastating results on south LA whitetail. The Accubond load shoots 1” groups @ 100 yds and drop 2.5” at 200 yds. I’ve used 41 gr of Varget with similar results. Jun 19, 2011. 1,476. 4. Well, I tried out my 708 yesterday, not with A-MAXs, but with 150grBT on top of 39.5grs. Varget, CCI BR primers, Nickel brass, very good group of .402 for 5 shots, I'm very happy with the combo. I'd say 38grs.
