Engine casting # 3970010--how to find the year. Thanks to some GREAT help, I found my engine casting number. By looking on the web pages some of you guys suggested, that number was used on 350's from '69 to '80 (also on '69 302's and '69 327's), both 2 and 4 bolt. There is no date code or clock on rear of the engine. One forum quoted that GM moved date codes to the side of the block in the 70's. This is passenger side between the core plugs.
