Really nice happy hour at Sublime SXM at Summit resort last evening. As always the views from here are wonderful. The lovely bartender Amber kept us laughing and our glasses full. We tried a couple of appetizers now that the kitchen is open and they were very yummy. Looking forward to dinner there soon. Stay in SXM whenever. It's really not that big of a deal. Anguilla is overwhelmingly the better of the two locations but it's fun to explore new places and try new things. We stayed in SXM for the last days of our vacation and I don't regret it. It made the travel home MUCH easier and MUCH shorter, especially being with a 4 year old.

We also traveled there last year about the same time. On both trips, we rented cars from Thrifty. Last year, no problems. This year everything was great until we returned the car.

SXM is a duty free port, so customs is rarely an issue (unlike AXA). I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island. Jet bridges are still not functional, so we were bussed from our plane to the terminal. As we were headed to St. Barth, the rep from St. Barth Commuter was waiting just inside the terminal before immigration.
