Sep 23, 2014 · Dinesh D’Souza, a former political commentator and author, was sentenced to five years of probation and eight months of community confinement for violating the federal campaign finance law by making illegal contributions to a Senate campaign in the names of others. He pleaded guilty in 2014 and admitted that he caused two straw donors to contribute $10,000 each to the Long Campaign of Wendy Long in 2012.
